The first step in seeking help can often feel challenging and daunting. You may be unsure about where to begin and what to express. Rest assured, I am here to listen to whatever you are facing.
Counselling provides a valuable opportunity for you to share your thoughts and feelings in a secure environment, free from judgement or criticism. Whether you are navigating current challenges or seeking to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, engaging with a professional can help clarify your experiences.
There are various forms of talking therapies available, which can make it difficult to determine the right one for you. Research consistently indicates that online therapy is equally effective as in-person therapy. I customize my approach for each client, recognizing that everyone is unique and possesses their own set of values and beliefs. I assist my clients in discovering their true selves through a cohesive, collaborative therapeutic process. Sometimes, all we need is to be heard in order to enhance our self-esteem.
What to expect
Attending counselling for the first time can be a daunting experience. I offer free 15-20 minutes welcome call, where you can briefly tell me what brought you to the therapy and ask any questions you may have about the way I work. We can also talk about what you would like to gain from counselling. You can then make the decision as to whether you would like to book any further sessions.
By creating a safe and supportive space online, you will have the invaluable opportunity to deeply explore yourself and your potentials, working towards developing your own personal growth – mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Throughout the course of the therapy, you will be encouraged to delve into your worldview, which will help in increasing your self-awareness and finding effective ways to maintain a healthy balance in your life.
You are not obligated to commit to any specific number of sessions. You may discover that you have achieved your desired outcomes after only a few sessions, or you may find that engaging in some longer-term work would be of great benefit to your ongoing development and wellbeing.
Why come to counselling?
People seek counselling for a multitude of reasons that are often deeply personal and varied. You may find yourself facing relationship difficulties that leave you feeling uncertain about your connections with others, or perhaps a significant life event, such as a loss or major transition, has profoundly affected you, leaving you in need of support. Alternatively, you might be grappling with overwhelming feelings of stress, anxiety, or depression, and are eager to delve deeper into understanding what triggers your negative thinking patterns and emotional responses.
- Anxiety: Explore the underlying causes that contribute to your feelings of anxiety and discover effective coping mechanisms that can help you feel more in control and at peace.
- Depression: Understand the root causes of your depressive feelings and develop personalized strategies that can empower you to overcome these challenges and regain a sense of joy in life.
- Transition: Navigate through significant life changes, such as moving to a new city, changing careers, or adjusting to new family dynamics, with compassionate guidance and steadfast support to help you find your way.
- Life Challenges: Tackle everyday stressors, whether they arise from work, personal relationships, or self-doubt, and enhance your overall wellbeing by developing healthy coping strategies and resilience.
Coming to counselling doesn’t mean that you are unwell or unable to cope with things. If anything, it shows that you have the courage to face reality head on and look at the things that are challenging you.
Existential therapy is based upon the fundamental belief that from time to time all people experience inner conflict due to their interaction with certain conditions inherent in human existence, which are known as givens. The theories recognize the following primary existential givens:
- Freedom and associated responsibility
- Death
- Isolation
- Meaninglessness
- Anxiety
A confrontation with any of the aforementioned conditions, or givens, fills an individual with a type of dread commonly referred to as existential anxiety. This anxiety is thought to reduce a person’s physical, psychological, social, and spiritual awareness, which may lead to significant long-term consequences.
Encouraging Diversity
My own multi-cultural background, combined with my extensive experience in adaptation and coping with loss, allows me to gain an enriched and deeper insight into the unique worlds of my clients. I am passionately committed to encouraging diversity in every aspect of my practice, ensuring that I tailor my approach to meet the distinctive needs of each individual client. This focused and personalized method guarantees that the specific requirements of every person are addressed, whether you are struggling with anxiety, experiencing the effects of depression, or facing any other complex life challenges. Through this deeply individualized approach, I seek to cultivate a more inclusive, empathetic, and understanding environment for everyone who comes to me for help and support.
