“Do not set aside your happiness. Do not wait to be happy in the future. The best time to be happy is always now.” Roy T. Bennett

My name is Gen and a very warm welcome to MeaningfulLife Counselling website. I am qualified online counsellor, BACP registered.

I grew up in multi-cultural family, my Russian mother and Korean father gave me Greek name Yevgeniya, but everyone calls me Gen. My career started as a textile artist, art teacher, then interpreter/translator for big international companies which allowed me to travel and understand better the diversity of our world. After several unpleasant life events, I realised this was not the way I want to continue my life. Reaching out for professional help was my best decision. Therapy helped me to find new meaning and purpose in my life.

I love supporting others, hearing their stories and empowering them on their unique journeys, whether that be to heal, to develop personally, to address difficulties in their lives or to find meaning and make sense of their circumstances. Considering the work that I do to be a privilege in supporting self-care and personal growth.

Working as LSA (supporting children with special needs requiring extra help and care) at schools I understand the challenges of parents and teachers go through, not realising the need to recharge and regroup to avoid the “burn out”.

I am a passionate learner and value the connection with other therapists through professional support groups. I love reading and constantly increase my professional knowledge attending courses and keeping up to date with all the latest information and implement accordingly.

For several years I have been a Bereavement Volunteer with CRUSE. I help my clients to grieve and come to terms with their losses, helping clients to find new meaning. I am passionate about serving the community and supporting organisations who ensure that counselling is accessible for everyone. In addition to my private practice, I volunteer with Cruse and work as a sessional counsellor with BreatheUK.

My initial training is an Accredited Humanistic Existential counsellor. My approach enhanced by further professional education: Bereavement, Infant Loss, ASIST, Mental Health First Aid, Chronic Pain, LGBTQ. I combine different approaches, tailoring my practice to each unique client, providing a warm, empathic space to help you reconnect with your own inner values and resources.

My therapy employs some CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) tools and exercises to gently challenge negative thought processes that are impacting your happiness and wellbeing.

My online practice includes regular clinical supervision, professional liability insurance and being a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), abiding by their ethical code of conduct.
